Hi All

Just joined up and hope someone out there can help me. I learnt knitting from my mum 20 odd years ago and have only started again having been inspired by Berocco patterns and yarns. While waiting to save up for a shipment of Berocco novelty yarns, I've decided to design my own pattern, which is based around the Aran Duffle Coat by Judith L Swartz courtesy of Knitting Daily.com.

I've spent days researching different cable panels to incorporate into the pattern and counted all stitches to ensure it works out. Oh and I've converted it from flat knitting to circular knitting cos I'm terrified of seams. So I've got the fronts and back sorted out to work all at the same time, will work the sleeves in the round, picking up stitches from the shoulders and as for the hood....i'm still working on how to knit that in one piece and work in with the body or add by picking up stitches (confused yet? i still am).

Just as I'm about to start casting on...the creative voices in my head want to have a mitred corner border along the front and bottom edges which will continue up the hood as well. I've spent the last 4 hours googling to find out how to knit a mitred corner and I've found the style I want...however I want to knit it at the same time as the body with the ribbing along the front edges to be perpendicular to the bottom ribbing.

So to get to the point....is it possible to knit (at the same time) the body section that knits North-South and the border section that will knit West-East?

I hope someone out there knows how to do this or can figure it out for me...I'll be forever grateful.

Kind regards

Rhiannon

Hi Rhiannon. I have no idea how to answer your question, but here's a link to a forum whose members might be able to help. Some really hot-shot knitters on there. It's 'about.com:knitting':

You might also try Phoenix knitting UK. You'll get a friendly response even if no one can answer your question Laughing :
