For those who don't know, I'm a die-hard Michigan Wolverines football fanatic. I live and breathe U of M football, and have since I was a very young child (about age 2). I grew up watching the maize and blue and their coach, the legendary and amazing Bo Schembechler.
Today I'm in mourning, as my beloved coach has passed away. I know many of you may not understand, but I've grown up with this man. Not only did he coach for many years, but even after retirement he was a fixture at the games and always gave interviews before games and afterward. As someone on our local radio station so eloquently put it, it's as if the Pope of college football has died.
What's most amazing is the timing. Tomorrow will be one of the most highly-anticipated games in college football history, Michigan vs. Ohio State. They're #1, we're #2, but it's a close 1 and 2. This is also one of the biggest rivalries in all of sports. The fact that Bo passed away on the eve of that game is just unbelievable to me.
So... I felt the need to post this for all of you. I'm sure to most it means nothing, but to me it's important. I hope you'll all understand, and do me a favor... Honor Coach by wearing something yellow or blue tomorrow. The game is at 3:30pm (Nov 18th). Even if you're not a Michigan fan or a fan of college football, show your support for a truly wonderful man.
